Membership Renewals for 2022 - 2023

It’s now near the end of the membership year and so it’s time to renew for another 12 months.

Our membership year goes from 1st April to 31st of the following March and so the current membership (2021 – 2022 printed on yellow cards) will expire at the end of next month. On 1st April 2022, the Gate Number used for the combination lock for access to the grounds will be changed.

The forms to be used for applying for a renewal have been sent to existing members generally by email but are also available to download in the “Download” page of this web site. Two versions are available – the first in WORD format and the other in .pdf format. Use whichever is more convenient and return the completed form to me either by email or by post. My email address and my postal address are near the bottom of the first page of the form.

All renewals must be accompanied by a completed form. Details of all members must be included with those sharing a postal address on a single form.

Please read the notes on the second page of the form which give details of the cost of membership subscriptions and the methods of paying.

The form is slightly different this year in that it has a “Member Class” column to be completed. This is because we have a new class of member – Associate. This allows a responsible adult to join the club as an associate. They will not be permitted to shoot but, after briefing, will be permitted to accompany Junior or Vulnerable Adult members around the courses.

If you have any queries, please contact me.

2021 Club Championships

24/10/21 Update

Club Championships

It is only 3 weeks to go until we hold the planned club championships.

Disappointingly, the response from members has been poor with fewer registrations than expected.

UNLESS WE RECEIVE A WORTHWHILE NUMBER OF REGISTRATIONS FOR THE COMPETITION, WE WILL HAVE TO CANCEL THE EVENT.

Will anyone interested please contact me as soon as possible so that we can continue with our planning

2021 AGM and Club Champoionships.

Thanks to the COVID situation, it has been a long time since the last event was organised at Fleet Ibex. We have missed two whole years of open shoots and have not held the club championships nor an AGM for some time.

However, hopefully, things are starting to get back to normal and so we have decided to hold our AGM and our 2021 Club Championships on the weekend of 13th and 14th November 2021.

The plan is that we will hold our AGM on Saturday 13th starting at 10:00hrs. it is hoped that we will have a good turnout to hear reports on the club’s current state and plans. It you have any proposals to be discussed, please contact Terry, the Club Secretary, at least 4 weeks before the meeting.

After the meeting, on Saturday, we will be completing the setting of the course for the Club Championships. We intend to set out 20 no. 3D targets in a simplified course either side of the main track. Assistance from the club members to do this would be gratefully received.

On Sunday 14th November, we intend to shoot our club championships – twice round the 20 targets. The start time will be 09:30 with registration from 08:30hrs. All NFAS bow classes can be used with duplicate scoring used as with any open shoot. Medals will be awarded in each class. As we have no recent records of scores, we are unable to estimate handicaps and so the award for the overall winner will not be made this year.

For those of you who have no experience of competitive shooting, this will be an ideal opportunity to “dip your toes in the water” to try it. We will have the safety briefing at 09:30 with the walk out and shoot start soon after that. Late comers cannot be accommodated.

There will be facilities for making hot drinks – tea or coffee – but you will have to bring your own food with you.

Entry is limited to all current members of Fleet Ibex and is free of charge. However, we ask you to register your entry before the date by contacting myself or one of the other committee members with the name(s) of the archers, their membership number(s) and the bow class. If you would like to experience the shoot but are unsure about the scoring, it is quite possible for you to shoot non-competitively – just tell us when you register.

We are organising this event to get things started again after a long break and we hope that as many members will attend. We need to assess interest by pre-registration. If interest is low, then we will have to cancel the event so keep your eyes on our web site and our Facebook page for the latest news.

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS (EITHER COMPETING OR AS A NON-COMPETITOR) IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU REGISTER FIRST. CONTACT CAN BE MADE THROUGH THE CONTACTS PAGE OF THIS WEB SITE.

Open Shoot - 15th August 2021

In view of the continuing uncertainty over the coronavirus situation and the practical and logistical problems of holding an open shoot, the committee has made the reluctant decision to cancel the open shoot planned for 15th August 2021.

We apologise for this but feel that it is the right decision in the circumstances.

Let’s hope for a full programme of open shoots in 2022.

Forestry Work - May 2021

Please note that our landowner is having some logging / forestry works carried out during the week commencing 17th May 2021.

It is hoped that work will be complete within about 3 - 4 days.

We will be keeping one course open for shooting at all times whilst work proceeds on the other.

If you visit the club grounds, please be aware that work is going on and please comply with relevant notices and instructions.

Membership 2021 - 2022

Hoorah!!

Completed making new 2021 – 2022 membership cards for all 227 existing members of Fleet Ibex – all with covering letters in their addressed envelopes.

I’ll get them in the post (2nd class) tomorrow – 17th February 2021.

If any members do not receive their cards within a week or so (bearing in mind the erratic postal deliveries during the lock down) contact me and I will investigate.

Don’t forget that the combination lock code will change on 1st April 2021 to the one printed on the new cards. Until then, the 2020 – 2021 code will be valid.

Keep safe guys.

Hoping that it won’t be too long before we can be allowed to meet up for archery in the woods!

Membership - 2021 - 2022 and AGM

It is this time of year that we have to renew our memberships for the year and organise our AGM. I would normally send out the notification together with application forms by email requesting that members renew for another year by completing the forms and paying the annual subscriptions for the new year 1/4/21 to 31/3/22.

However, in view of the limited opportunities for archery in 2020, the committee has decided that any fully paid up members for 2020 - 2021 (as registered by 31/12/20) will have their membership renewed for 1/4/21 to 31/3/22 free of charge. We hope that this goodwill gesture makes up, in a small way, for some of the disappointments of last year.

I will therefore be renewing all current memberships over the next 4 - 6 weeks by making up and sending out new membership cards to all. As usual, the combination lock code for the gate will be changed on 1/4/21 with the number printed on the new membership cards.

If your details (address, contact phone number & email address) have not changed since you submitted your forms last year, you need to take no action. A new card will be posted out to you in due course.

IF ANY DETAILS HAVE CHANGED PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION FORM FROM THE “DOWNLOADS AND LINKS” PAGE OF OUR WEB SITE AND RESUBMIT IT WITH THE NEW DETAILS. THE FORM SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED AS “CURRENT MEMBER, AMENDED DETAILS”

In view of the current situation, we have also decided to postpone the AGM from the usual February time slot. It will now be held later in the year when circumstances pemit.

Lifting of Covid 19 Lockdown - 2nd December 2020

The nationwide lockdown is due to end on Wednesday 2nd December 2020

As a result, the club grounds will be open again for shooting.

However, please note that the national “Tier System” regulations still apply and so any restrictions as required by the Government Guidelines must be complied with as appropriate. Failure to do so may invalidate our insurance.

Covid 19 Lockdown from 5th November 2020

The latest Government regulations regarding the Covid 19 lockdown includes the statement that archery is not permitted until the lockdown has been lifted.

As a result, the club is now closed and will remein closed until the lockdown ends. Terry will be going to the club first thing tomorrow 5th November to change the gate lock.

This is disappointing for all of us but we all need to be responsible for ourselves and others round us.

Keep safe everyone.

Use of Club During Covid 19 Restrictions.

It has been decided that in the light of the announcement on Sunday 12th May 2020 by the Prime Minister club members may use the club grounds for shooting subject to strict conditions.

The NFAS have published guidelines which can be viewed on their web site or downloaded / viewed on the “Downloads and Links” page of this web site. Fleet Ibex have decided to implement the NFAS recommendations in full.

In brief, only cohabiting members of the same family may travel to the grounds and shoot together. It is permissible to meet one single individual member at the club and shoot with them provided “social distancing” regulations are adhered to.

Only fully paid up members for 2020 - 2021 may use the club - no guests are permitted.

IF ANY INDIVIDUALS ARE SEEN FLOUTING THESE REGULATIONS, THEY WILL BE GIVEN A FINAL WARNING AND ASKED TO LEAVE THE CLUB GROUNDS IMMEDIATELY. ANY SUBSEQUENT CONTRAVENTION OF THE RULES MAY RESULT IN CLUB MEMBERSHIP BEING WITHDRAWN PERMANENTLY.

CONTINUING FLOUTING OF THE RULES MAY RESULT IN THE CLUB GOUNDS BEING CLOSED UNTIL ALL RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN LIFTED
