Charity Friendly Shoot 8th January 2017

A fantastic day (although the weather could have been kinder!!).

We estimate that we had getting on to 100 archers turning out for our charity friendly shoot. It was great to see so many members, visitors and guests enjoy themselves over the 20 3-D targets set out. A total of £310 was raised for our nominated charity - Cancer Research - so many thanks to all of you who turned out and were so generous.

Thanks to all who helped arrange the day - in particular the course setters.

Open Shoots planned for 2017

Charity Friendly shoot on 8th January 2017

New Year Charity Friendly Shoot.

We are planning to hold a charity friendly shoot at Fleet Ibex on Sunday 8th January 2017.

We will have 20 3-D targets out on the course with two sets of pegs – similar to the Club Championships event. The idea is that you turn up and shoot as many or as few targets as you like.

Coffee and Tea facilities will be available.

Everyone is welcome – members, guests and visitors. NFAS membership is not a requirement for this shoot as we will be covered by our own insurance. Just ensure that all guests and visitors are signed in.

Members can shoot round free of charge. Guests and visitors will be asked for a contribution - £3 for a single archer or £5 for two. All proceeds will be donated to our nominated charity – Cancer Research.

Hope to see as many members, guests and visitors as possible on the 8th.

Club Championships 30th October 2016

Over 50 of our members turned up for our 2016 Club Championships.

Despite the change to GMT the night before more or less everyone turned up on time and we got out on the course at about 09:30hrs.

The course setters had put out 20 3-D targets - each with a green and a yellow peg with the intention being that we should shoot round the course twice - first time using the green pegs and second time using the yellow pegs. A maximum of two arrows from each peg were allowed in order to speed up events so we could finish before it got dark.

The day was a great success with everyone apparently enjoying the event. It was good to see several new members - some of whom were competing in their first competition.

Prizes were awarded for places in all the NFAS shooting classes represented together with a handicap competition award for an overall winner. The handicaps were calculated on the basis of the results of our open shoots this year with points being added to individual scores depending on their class. It is almost impossible to come up with a handicap system that takes all factors into consideration but the fact that the top 3 archers on a handicap basis come from 3 different classes seems to indicate we got it about right.

The overall winner on handicap was Georgie Walton shooting Ladies Barebow (see below) followed by Bree Jenkins (Ladies AFB) and Glenn Martin (Gents Freestyle).

Within the individual classes, the most noteworthy performance was probably that by Lara Evans who managed 650 points in the Under 12 Girls Bow Hunter class - well done Lara.

Full results have been posted in the "Shoot Results and Reports" page with a few photographs being posted in the "Photo Galleries" page.

Club Championships 2016 - further details

The Fleet Ibex Club Championships will be held this year on Sunday 30th October 2016.

Registration will start from 08:30 hrs with the shoot briefing starting promptly at 09:30. Please note that as the clocks go back on the night of 29th October, we need to start on time so we can complete the shoot in the daylight.

All NFAS classes of bow can be used and prizes will be awarded, as usual, in each class. In addition, there will be overall winners based on a handicap system. The shoot will comprise 20 targets with double pegs so we will shoot all 20 targets twice. Archers will be limited to a maximum of two arrows on each target (and not 3 as is standard with the open shoots) so we can get around without too much delay. Scoring will be explained at the briefing meeting.

Entry will be free of charge to all Fleet Ibex members paid up for the 2016/2017 season. Tea and coffee facilities will be available also free of charge but there will be no other catering provided so please ensure you bring some food with you.

It would help the administration considerably if you could inform Paul Harding if you intend to enter – contact details below. This is of particular importance if you want to shoot in a particular group or with other individuals. We will accept any member who turns up on the day but cannot guarantee that preferences for shooting companions can be accommodated.

Looking forward to seeing as many members as possible on the 30th.

Club Championships 2016

We intend to hold the club championships on Sunday 30th October 2016.

Please note that to enter you do not need to be an NFAS member but you do need to be a full member of Fleet Ibex.

Put the date in your diaries. Watch this space for more details - including the start time as the clocks go back on 30th and we may run out of daylight if we don't start promptly!

3DAuk Shoot at Fleet Ibex

Will members please note that the committee has agreed for 3DAuk to hold a shoot on some of our grounds on 7th, 8th and 9th October 2016.

As a result, the area to the left of the access road (where our Black Course is located) will be in use for this shoot over those days. Please note therefore that the Black Course will be closed to members on 7th, 8th and 9th October. However, the Blue Course will remain available for members to use.

We have also agree to provide club members to act as marshals - 4 being required for each of the 3 days. If any member is prepared to help in this respect, please contact Terry either directly or through the contacts page of this web site.

Ken Dendle Memorial Open Shoot 14th August 2016

Our final open shoot of the year - the Ken Dendle Memorial Shoot - was held on 14th August 2016. A selection of photos have been included in the "Galleries" page. Many thanks to the members who answered the plea for photographs - most of which have been included.

Many thanks to all involved - the course setters, the organisers Helen and Terry and the excellent caterers - for an excellent day sport.

A shoot report and the full results will be published as soon as they have been received.
